Make every day an adventure. It's easier said than done, but hopefully these tips will help you take a step in the right direction.

1. Change your mindset

If you really want to live a more adventurous life, the first thing you're going to have to do is change your mindset. An adventure is simply ‘an unusual and exciting or daring experience’.  They can be big or small, and they can be different for everyone. Understand that adventure is a way of life, not just a moment in time or an experience.

2. Start small

Perhaps your idea of the ultimate adventure is travelling the world, skydiving or swimming with dolphins. That's great, but if that isn't on the horizon any time soon, it doesn't mean you can't have other adventures along the way. There are plenty of small things you can do to start living a more adventurous life right now. Experiment with a new wardrobe, take a different route to work or try some unusual foods.

3. Dream big

Just because you're starting small, it doesn't mean you should give up on those big dreams. Keep those big adventures in sight; literally write them down and pin them to a wall if you think it will help. Be conscious of what your ultimate goal is and keep taking steps to turn that dream into reality.

4. Say yes

If you've seen the film Yes Man you'll know how powerful something as simple as saying yes can be. Jim Carrey's character in the movie went overboard by saying yes to absolutely everything, but you get the idea. Next time you have the opportunity to try something different, just say yes!

5. Live in the moment

To make the most out of your everyday adventures you need to be present and to live life in the moment. It's great to have plans and reflecting on previous adventures is worthwhile, but for the most part you're best focussing on the here and now and forgetting about the past and future.

6. Have no fear

Eleanor Roosevelt once said you should do one thing every day that scares you. I fell in love with this idea the second I heard it! Not only can this help you live a more adventurous life, but the more you do things that scare you, the less fears you'll have. In turn you'll do more adventurous things, and the virtuous circle will continue indefinitely!

7. Rejoice the adventures you've already had

It can be easy to get too caught up in trying new things and having more adventures in your day-to-day, but don't forget to rejoice the adventures you've already had. Take some time to recall all of the adventurous things you've done in the last month; I bet you'll be surprised by what you have already achieved!

8. Leave room for impulse

Some of the best times I've ever had and the memories I cherish the most have occurred completely out of the blue. While I am a fan of meticulous planning, you've got to leave some room in your schedule for the unexpected, the last minute changes and the unforeseen.

9. Make adventure a priority

Adventure is not just going to happen by itself. If you really want to make your life more adventurous, you're going to have to make it a priority. Luckily you'll already be half way there if you follow these tips and tricks!
